What is Aurelia?
Aurelia is a native Android client for Jellyfin, designed to provide a modern and responsive way to browse, stream, and manage your personal video library.
Can I connect Aurelia to my Jellyfin server?
Yes. Aurelia supports connecting to Jellyfin servers using Quick Connect or standard username and password authentication.
Can I use multiple Jellyfin servers?
Yes. Aurelia supports multiple server configurations, allowing you to connect to and switch between different Jellyfin servers.
Can I switch between Jellyfin users?
Yes. Aurelia supports quick profile switching so you can move between available Jellyfin user profiles without having to configure the server again.
Does Aurelia work without a Jellyfin server?
Aurelia requires a Jellyfin server for browsing, streaming, and managing your server-based media. However, downloaded media can be played offline without an active connection to your Jellyfin server.
This makes Aurelia useful for watching downloaded content while traveling or when a network connection is unavailable.
Library & Discovery
What can I browse in Aurelia?
Aurelia supports Jellyfin video libraries including Movies, TV Shows, Seasons, Episodes, Collections, Box Sets, Favorites, and Playlists.

Yes. Aurelia surfaces Jellyfin content such as Continue Watching, Next Up, Recently Added, Latest Media, similar content, and recommendations where the relevant information is provided by your server.
Does Aurelia show detailed media information?
Yes. Media pages can display artwork, descriptions, genres, studios, tags, cast, crew, and related content when that information is available from Jellyfin.

Which playback engines does Aurelia support?
Aurelia supports AndroidX Media3 ExoPlayer and provides an optional MPV playback engine for additional playback compatibility and capabilities.
Does Aurelia support Direct Play?
Yes. Aurelia supports Direct Play, Direct Stream, and server-side transcoding, depending on the media, server configuration, and selected playback engine.
Does Aurelia support hardware-accelerated playback?

Trickplay & Playback Features
What are Trickplay thumbnails?
Trickplay provides thumbnail previews along the playback timeline, allowing you to quickly see what is happening at different points in a video when the required Trickplay data is available from your Jellyfin server.
Does Aurelia support Skip Intro and Skip Credits?
Yes. Aurelia supports Skip Intro and Skip Credits when the relevant markers are available from your Jellyfin server.
Live TV
Does Aurelia support Live TV?
Yes. Aurelia supports Jellyfin Live TV, including channel browsing, program information, live streams, recordings, and schedules.
For live playback, Aurelia uses its built-in Live TV playback path rather than relying on Jellyfin’s server-side transcoded Live TV stream. Aurelia retrieves the available channel information and stream URLs from Jellyfin and plays the streams directly within the app.
This approach helps avoid some of the stability issues that can occur with Jellyfin’s Live TV transcoding pipeline and allows Aurelia to support a broad range of channels that can be played by compatible Android media players.
Does Aurelia support the TV guide?
Yes. Aurelia supports the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) when guide information is available through your Jellyfin server.
Can I watch recordings?
Yes. Supported Jellyfin recordings can be browsed and played through Aurelia.
Can I view recording schedules?
Yes. Aurelia can display recording schedules where the required information is provided by your Jellyfin server.
Downloads & Offline Viewing
Can I download media for offline viewing?
Yes. Aurelia supports downloading supported media for offline playback.
Can downloads be resumed?
Yes, when downloading the original media file. Interrupted downloads can be resumed without downloading the entire file again.
Downloads that require server-side transcoding to a different quality or format cannot currently be resumed in the same way. If such a transcoded download is interrupted, it may need to start again.
Can I choose where downloads are stored?
Yes. Aurelia provides a configurable download location where supported by Android and your device.
Can I manage downloaded media?
Yes. Aurelia provides download management so you can view and manage your downloaded content.
Personalization & Settings
Can I customize Aurelia’s appearance?
Yes. Aurelia supports Material You, dynamic accent colors, Light, Dark, and True Black (AMOLED) themes, along with customizable application fonts.
Does Aurelia support tablets?
Yes. Aurelia provides responsive layouts optimized for both phones and tablets.
Does Aurelia support Android TV?
Aurelia has a separate dedicated TV client, Aurelia TV, designed specifically for Android TV and TV-oriented devices.
Aurelia TV is built from the ground up for the television experience, with a beautiful, polished interface designed around Android TV interaction patterns, remote-friendly navigation, and large-screen layouts. It uses Jetpack Compose for TV to deliver a fluid, visually rich experience that feels at home on the big screen.
The TV client is also intentionally lightweight and optimized for the more constrained hardware commonly found in TV devices, helping keep navigation and playback responsive without sacrificing visual quality.
Is Aurelia TV the same app as Aurelia?
Aurelia and Aurelia TV are separate clients with different interfaces and device experiences, but they share the same underlying application logic and core functionality.
Aurelia is designed for phones and tablets, while Aurelia TV is purpose-built for Android TV and other TV devices.
The shared foundation keeps features, playback behavior, Jellyfin integration, and core functionality consistent between the clients, while the presentation layer is tailored specifically to each device category.
Aurelia TV follows its own TV-focused design system and interaction patterns, built with Jetpack Compose for TV, rather than simply scaling the mobile interface up to a larger screen.
Can I choose my preferred playback engine?
Yes. You can select your preferred playback engine through Aurelia’s settings.
Can I manage multiple servers from Settings?
Yes. Server configurations can be managed through Aurelia’s settings, including multiple server connections and profile switching.

Troubleshooting
Why can’t Aurelia connect to my Jellyfin server?
Check that your Jellyfin server is running and reachable from your device. Verify the server address and authentication details, and make sure your network or VPN configuration allows the connection.
Why isn’t a movie or episode appearing?
Make sure the media is visible in the corresponding Jellyfin library and that your Jellyfin server has completed its library scan.
Refreshing Aurelia or reconnecting to the server may also help if the server’s library has recently changed.
Why isn’t Trickplay working?
Trickplay requires the appropriate Trickplay data to be generated and available on your Jellyfin server. If that data is unavailable, Aurelia cannot display timeline thumbnails.
Why isn’t Skip Intro or Skip Credits available?
These controls depend on the relevant markers being available from your Jellyfin server. If the server has not generated or provided those markers, Aurelia cannot display the corresponding controls.
Why isn’t a subtitle working correctly?
Subtitle compatibility can depend on the subtitle format, media file, selected playback engine, and Android device. For advanced subtitles such as ASS/SSA, trying the optional MPV playback engine may provide better compatibility.
Where can I report a bug or request a feature?
If you encounter a problem or have a suggestion for Aurelia, contact CodeNest Duo through the available support and community channels.
When reporting a bug, include your Aurelia version, Android version, device model, Jellyfin server version, and a short description of the issue. Screenshots or diagnostic information can also help with troubleshooting.
